“The church insists it’s an argument about religious freedom, not birth control. But, really, it’s about birth control, and women’s lower caste in the church. It’s about conservative bishops targeting Democratic candidates who support contraception and abortion rights as a matter of public policy. And it’s about a church that is obsessed with sex in ways it shouldn’t be, and not obsessed with sex in ways it should be.”

“Pennsylvania State Rep. Daryl Metcalfe (R-Butler) will introduce legislation on Wednesday that would defund Planned Parenthood, adding his state to a list of four others that have pending bills to strip public funds from the family planning provider.”
The state governor is less than sympathetic towards women’s health. In fact, he, along with the vast majority of his male republican co-horts, are blatantly out of touch. The article points this out:
“Gov. Tom Corbett (R), during a debate over a transvaginal ultrasound bill that would have required all women seeking abortions to receive one, said that women who didn’t want the procedure should just “close [their] eyes.””
At some point, the madness has to end. I don’t think I need to point out that abortion services comprise less than 3% of what Planned Parenthood does. PP offers a variety of health services, including gynecological care and STD screenings, most often to underprivileged and low-income women, minorities, and LGBTQ individuals. Don’t they deserve access to healthcare they can afford?

“For more than 60 years, poultry growers, drug companies and the Food and Drug Administration said Roxarsone, sold under the brand 3-Nitro, contained a harmless form of organic arsenic that is present in almost everything in nature, including a glass of drinking water.
That thinking was firmly contradicted last year by an FDA study that found trace amounts of inorganic arsenic in the livers of chickens that were fed Roxarsone and then slaughtered for tests. Hundreds of growers in the United States continue to use Roxarsone.
…
Inorganic arsenic has been linked to various human ailments, including neurological deficits in children.”
